The laboratory of Dr. Pritesh Desai at Texas A&M University is inviting applications for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on foundational discoveries in the field of microbial pathogenesis and immunology.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Virology, Immunology, or a related biomedical field.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working with mouse models, viruses, helminth models, and immune cells.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, sequencing, CRISPR-Cas).
  • Familiarity with virology techniques and immunological assays.
  • Background in data analysis and scientific writing.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct research on projects including:
  • Characterizing immune responses to flaviviruses and alphaviruses.
  • Investigating dendritic cells’ roles in modulating T cell immunity.
  • Studying immune responses to viral vaccines and helminth-induced modulation.
  • Work mostly with mouse models; prior experience is preferred but training will be provided.
  • Collaborate actively within the research community and engage with opportunities for presenting research at national and international conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research under the PI’s supervision.
  • Analyze and summarize research data, and contribute to publication efforts.
  • Assist with lab maintenance procedures and mentor junior lab members.
