Eligibility/Qualification

  • Essential Criteria:
  1. PhD qualified in relevant subject area (or submitted thesis awaiting award).
  2. Undergraduate degree in relevant subject area (sciences, computer science, or engineering).
  3. Prior experience in image analysis (microscopy or computer vision).
  4. Programming experience.
  5. Ability to carry out research and communicate findings effectively.
  6. Planning and troubleshooting skills.
  7. Teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  8. Understanding the interdisciplinary field’s benefits and challenges.
  9. Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Desirable Criteria:
  1. Experience in fluorescence microscopy.
  2. Programming experience in Python.
  3. Familiarity with software engineering practices (version control, testing).
  4. Knowledge of deep learning-based image processing/analysis.

Job Description

The post holder will contribute to a multidisciplinary project focusing on how metabolism is investigated through various microscopy methods, such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) and optical coherence techniques. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a software platform for integrating information from different imaging modalities and methods.
  • Creating plugins for the Python-based multi-dimensional data viewer, napari.
  • Aggregating existing techniques for FLIM analysis, managing large multi-dimensional datasets, and applying machine learning/AI techniques.

Access to excellent training resources and state-of-the-art facilities will be provided, along with opportunities to attend international conferences.
