Postdoctoral Research Associate at LSTM: The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our esteemed Vector Biology Department. This role focuses on cutting-edge research addressing vector-borne diseases through the application of advanced ‘-omics’ technologies, significantly contributing to malaria control efforts.

Research Area: Vector Biology, Genomic Surveillance, Malaria Control

Location: Liverpool, United Kingdom (with international travel to Uganda and Kenya)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Biology, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Ecology, or Genomics.
  • Significant experience in molecular biology, next-generation sequencing technologies, or epidemiology/data management.
  • Evidence of preparing publications for specialist/general science journals.
  • Familiarity with research themes in the Vector Biology Department is desirable.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will work as part of an internationally renowned team, focusing on the following key responsibilities:

  • Apply evolutionary genetic approaches to study disease vectors.
  • Design and implement transcriptomic and genomic studies to explore fundamental evolutionary questions in Anopheles mosquitoes.
  • Provide support and supervision to students and technical staff.
  • Create training materials and deliver training on molecular and analytical techniques.
  • Assist in the design and supervision of PhD projects.
  • Generate ideas and contribute data for new project applications.
  • Write research grants and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Disseminate finding through publications and conferences.
