The University of Exeter wants a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Prof Steven West’s team.This Wellcome Trust-funded position is available immediately for a period of three years The research will study how RNA polymerase II transcription is regulated in human cells, focusing on premature transcriptional termination and how it affects gene expression.. You will have the chance to contribute to new discoveries and learn advanced molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics.This is a full-time fixed-term position.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study
- Sufficient knowledge of the discipline and research methods and techniques
- Ability to present research progress and outcomes effectively
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and electronic)
- Proficiency in preparing proposals and applications to external bodies
- Background in transcription and/or RNA biology, as well as bioinformatics, is desirable but not essential
- Interest and enthusiasm for the research area and a willingness to learn
Job Description:
- Conduct research on the regulation of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription in human cells.
- Investigate the mechanisms of premature transcriptional termination and its impact on gene expression.
- Build upon previous breakthroughs and contribute to expanding knowledge in the field.
- Receive training/experience in the latest molecular biology methods, including CRISPR/Cas9 genome modification and transcriptomic approaches (POINT-seq, mNET-seq, TT-seq, SLAM-seq).
- Perform bioinformatic analyses associated with the research.
- Explore specific projects related to premature termination pathways controlled by ZC3H4 or the Integrator complex.
- Develop independent research projects within the research area if desired.
