Postdoctoral Research Associate in CAR T-cell PET Imaging, King’s College London

Research Associate in Mechanobiology at King's College London

Postdoctoral Research Associate in CAR T-cell: King’s College London, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Postdoctoral Research Associate in CAR T-cell PET Imaging to join Dr. Ran Yan’s team at the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences. This exciting role involves developing innovative PET imaging reagents for Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cells, enabling early assessment of safety and efficacy in cell therapy. If you are a proactive CAR T-cell biologist with a passion for cutting-edge research, this is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field.

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Research Area: CAR T-cell Biology, PET Imaging

Location: London, St Thomas’ Campus

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Education: PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Strong research background in CAR T-cell biology with a proven track record. Experience in small animal imaging is desirable, and familiarity with radioactivity handling is preferred.

Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will collaborate with CAR T-cell experts, including Dr. John Maher and James Arnold from KCL, and radiochemist Prof. Erik Ã…rstad from UCL. The role involves evaluating novel PET tracers for detecting CAR T-cell biodistribution and behavior in preclinical mouse cancer models. Key responsibilities include:

  • Generation of cancer-targeting CAR T-cells.
  • In vitro evaluation of CAR T-cell specific radiotracers.
  • Establishment of tumor xenograft models.
  • PET imaging of CAR T-cells in tumor xenograft models using newly developed PET tracers.

The ultimate goal is to establish a long-term CAR T-cell PET imaging strategy that enables clinicians to assess the real-time in vivo biodistribution of CAR T-cells, predict therapeutic efficacy, and identify potential off-target toxicity at earlier stages of development.

This is a full-time post offered on a fixed-term contract for up to three years (latest end date 30 November 2026).
