Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cell Biology: The University of Edinburgh – College of Science and Engineering, School of Biological Sciences, Institute of Cell Biology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Swaffer lab. The position is full-time, fixed-term for 12 months, and offers a competitive salary range from £39,347 to £46,974 per annum.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
  • Expertise in quantitative single-cell microscopy, RNA biology, gene regulation, system biology, bioinformatics, or related areas
  • Strong command of standard techniques in molecular biology and cell culture (mammalian cells or yeast cells)
  • Proven track record of research productivity and ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Job Description:
The successful candidate will lead a major project focused on understanding the mechanisms that couple the inner molecular workings of the cell to its size, using yeast and/or mammalian cell lines as model systems. The project will build on recent breakthrough discoveries regarding how transcription and cell size are coupled and will involve interdisciplinary approaches across cell, molecular, systems, and quantitative biology. The role also includes contributing to a novel area of cell biology research, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, and leveraging expertise in RNA biology, functional genomics, bioinformatics, single-cell imaging, or quantitative image analysis.
