Postdoctoral Research Associate – Space Physics: The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of Space Physics. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects investigating the ion-neutral coupling in the Earth’s upper atmosphere during geomagnetically active periods.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Recent Ph.D. in Physics, Space Physics, Plasma Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in running Ionosphere and Thermosphere models, analyzing simulation results, and performing data-model comparisons.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  1. Conduct original research both independently and collaboratively within the Space Physics group.
  2. Collaborate on projects focused on large-scale traveling atmospheric disturbances (LSTADs) and ionospheric disturbances (LSTIDs), along with studying neutral wind responses to ion convection and particle precipitation.
  3. Run three-dimensional general circulation models and analyze ground-based and satellite measurements.
  4. Engage in data-model comparisons to enhance research quality.
  5. Present findings at professional conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
  6. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance and support in their research endeavors.
