Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Vector-pathogen interactions, Systems Biology, Entomology, Molecular Microbiology, Immunology, or a related area.
- In-depth knowledge of mosquito midgut homeostasis and vector competence.
- Experience with RNA-Seq, 16S rRNA-seq, experimental infections, gene silencing, and editing.
- Evidence of preparing publications for scientific journals.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Perform Infection Assays:
- Conduct infection assays on mosquitoes with various arboviruses and Plasmodium.
- Design and execute multi-omics assays (transcriptomics, microbiomics, metabolomics).
- Evaluate Gene Roles:
- Investigate targeted mosquito genes’ roles in pathogen development and vector physiology.
- Design assays for perturbing mosquito midgut homeostasis.
- Lead Scientific Coordination:
- Oversee the research project and collaborate with institutions like Imperial College London and LSTM hubs in Africa and Brazil.
- Produce reports in coordination with the principal investigator.
- Student and Technical Staff Support:
- Supervise students and technicians, aiding with project design and data analysis.
- Create training materials for molecular and analytical techniques.
- Novel Research Development:
- Develop research ideas and support grant applications for future projects.
- Communicate findings through conferences and publications.
