Summary
The Stephanie E. Pierce Laboratory at Harvard University is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct innovative research in vertebrate evolution. Unlike traditional roles with pre-defined projects, this position invites candidates to propose original research that challenges or expands our current understanding of vertebrate evolutionary history across any group, geological time period, or major transition.
Designation
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Research Area
Vertebrate Evolution, including but not limited to Systematics, Phylogenetics, Macroevolution, Phenome Evolution, Functional and Biomechanical Evolution, Embryogenesis, Histology, and Paleoecology.
Location
Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.

- Experience: A strong track record of scientific achievement evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in quantitative, experimental, computational, or analytical methods relevant to the proposed research.
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead an ambitious research project of their own design. The role encourages the development of new conceptual or analytical areas, including the integration of AI tools and big-data modeling. Key responsibilities and research areas include:
- Developing and executing a high-impact research program in vertebrate evolution.
- Utilizing methods such as musculoskeletal modeling, phylodynamics, high-throughput phenomics, or geochemical analysis.
- Collaborating with members of the Pierce Lab while extending the lab’s expertise into new scientific domains.
