Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Photophysics of Quantum Materials, USA

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Photophysics: The Photophysics of Quantum Materials laboratory of Professor Sanjay Behura in the Department of Physics at San Diego State University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow. The Behura Research Group aims to train a dynamic, diverse, and smart group of scientists interested in developing quantum information science and technology using quantum materials. We are looking for candidates interested in designing, growing, and characterizing atom-thin 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures for building integrated quantum photonic circuits.

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Research Area: Photophysics of Quantum Materials, 2D Materials and Heterostructures, Integrated Quantum Photonic Circuits

Location: San Diego State University, San Diego, CA

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Experimental Physics, Materials Science, Nanoscience or related fields
  • Experience in 2D materials and heterostructures growth and characterization
  • Experience in design and fabrication of integrated quantum photonic circuits
  • Knowledge of quantum computing and algorithms (optional)
  • Record of scholarly research publications in 2D materials and integrated photonics

Job Description:

  • Synthesize 2D materials via chemical vapor deposition and design moiré materials
  • Study the quantum states in van der Waals materials using optical and electrical methods
  • Develop an experimental capability to probe non-classical light in solid-state systems
  • Publish the research results in peer-reviewed journals and present in conferences
  • Collaborate with researchers at MonArk NSF Quantum Foundry and 20QP Program
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students in an inclusive research environment

Duration: 1-year, with a possibility of renewal depending on available funding

How to Apply:

  • Interested candidates should send the application materials (all-in-one PDF document) to Prof. Sanjay Behura (sbehura@sdsu.edu)
  • The application should include a cover letter describing past research experience and future research interests, CV, and contact information of two references.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a virtual interview.

Last Date for Apply: Open until filled
