Eligibility/Qualification
- Essential:
- PhD and Master’s degree in Earth Sciences, Geography, Earth Systems Modeling, Climate Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Earth System Models (Global Climate and/or Vegetation Models).
- Strong computational background in Earth System or Ecological Modeling, Climate Science, or Physics.
- In-depth knowledge of Earth System Models, including the role of land use in these models.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, evidenced by an excellent publication record.
- Advantageous:
- Analytical experience in tropical regions.
- Familiarity with archaeological, historical, and palaeoenvironmental datasets.
- Enthusiasm for applying scientific methods to historical contexts.
- Outreach skills for communicating climate science to non-academic audiences.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Integrate multidisciplinary models of past human land use into Earth system models.
- Analyze and determine the effects of pre-industrial human activities on climate variables such as soil erosion, precipitation, temperature, and atmospheric composition.
- Collaborate with key project partners and engage with ongoing international research initiatives.
- Contribute to innovative research that utilizes archaeological and palaeoenvironmental datasets.
