Postdoctoral Research in Chromosome Stability: A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at the Center for Chromosome Stability (CCS), Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM), University of Copenhagen. The position, within the Miller Group led by Assoc. Prof. Thomas Miller, is fully funded and focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms maintaining eukaryotic genome stability during DNA replication. The position is available from June 1, 2024, or after agreement.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chromosome Stability

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Research Area: Chromosome Stability, DNA Replication, DNA Repair, Cryogenic Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM), Single-Molecule Studies.

Location: Center for Chromosome Stability, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, protein chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Strong background in DNA replication or repair, protein biochemistry, electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, single-molecule studies, or yeast genetics.
  • Proficiency in laboratory work.
  • Evidence of publishing in major international research journals.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team.
  • Well-organized with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and capable of learning new methods.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to the conceptual and empirical analysis of public reinsurance in the EU.
  • Develop a novel dataset on EU-level capacities for transboundary risk management.
  • Collect public opinion data through a conjoint survey experiment.
  • Investigate elite preferences using quantitative text analysis.
  • Collaborate with EUROPE RE’s team of research assistants, PhD researchers, and the group leader.

Terms of Employment:

  • Full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years.
  • Starting date: June 1, 2024, or after agreement.
  • Monthly salary starts at DKK 36,412 / approx. EUR 4,887 (October 2023-level).
  • The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
  • Covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
