Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • PhD in physical or natural sciences awarded by the start date.
  • Experience with methods in plant ecophysiology applied to ecosystem-scale research.
  • Proven ability to communicate scientific knowledge through publications.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in forest or wetland ecosystems.
  • Experience in tree ecology or ecophysiology.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Description

The fellow will work within the Biogeochemistry Lab at SERC, participating in the COMPASS-FME project. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing projects concerning mechanisms of forest loss and their impact on ecosystem functioning.
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, connecting plant and soil functioning with empirical research and modeling.
  • Engaging in large-scale field manipulation studies, particularly those simulating storm surge and precipitation effects.
