Essential Requirements
- PhD degree (completed or near completion)
- Experience in FPLC-based protein purification and protein biochemistry
- Strong academic track record (publications or preprints)
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- Full professional proficiency in English
- Strong motivation to develop as an independent scientist
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in structural biology (X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM)
- Experience with microbiology and/or bacteriophage experiments
Job Description
The selected candidate will investigate novel prokaryotic Argonaute proteins whose functions and mechanisms are not yet understood. The research will involve:
- Functional and mechanistic characterization of Argonaute proteins
- Use of bioinformatics and bacterial genetics approaches
- In vivo experiments including bacteriophage systems
- In vitro protein biochemistry and structural studies
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary research team
The project will be co-supervised by Daan Swarts and John van der Oost.
