Eligibility / Qualification
- PhD in virology, molecular biology, microbiology, or a closely related field (completed by appointment start)
- Strong interest in viral biology and infectious diseases
- Proven scientific publication record
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Prior postdoctoral experience is an advantage but not mandatory
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead a project-driven research program aimed at elucidating the life cycle and replication advantage of virus–host recombinant HEV variants. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing independent research experiments
- Cell culture–based virology assays
- Reverse genetics, mutagenesis, and RNA sequencing
- Data analysis and manuscript preparation
- Co-supervision of graduate students
- Active participation in national and international collaborations, including a partnership with a Swiss laboratory
This role is designed to support the development of a competitive independent research profile, with a long-term perspective toward securing a permanent research position.
