Research Area
The focus of this research will be on human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their differentiation into motor neurons, particularly looking into the connections between mitochondrial dysfunction and synaptic dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and FTD.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Completed (or near completion) a PhD/DPhil in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or a relevant discipline.
- Strong laboratory experience, particularly in human iPSC differentiations and mitochondrial biology.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Lead a project on mitochondrial roles in ALS/FTD neurons.
- Conduct laboratory experiments including iPSC differentiation, mitochondrial bioenergetics analysis, mass-spectrometry sample preparation, lentiviral transductions, and optogenetics.
- Contribute to the computational analysis of generated multi-omic data.
- Mentor and train postgraduate students and junior group members.
