Summary: Wageningen University & Research is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to two international ESA projects: PIRAMID and ECV Precursors for Aerosols and Ozone. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of satellite remote sensing and atmospheric modeling in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
  • Work experience with atmospheric satellite data (NO₂, HCHO, aerosols, ozone) and/or chemistry transport models.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Fortran).
  • A track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (C1 level) for collaboration in international projects.

Job Description:

  • Improve, harmonize, and tailor satellite (TROPOMI, OMI) NO₂ and HCHO products for integration into atmospheric models.
  • Evaluate and compare emission inventories and atmospheric models (TM5-MP, MAGRITTE, LOTOS-EUROS, CAMS).
  • Integrate GEO (GEMS) and LEO satellite products, including diurnal cycle analysis of NOx emissions.
  • Deliver results on time within ESA project frameworks, including preparing reports and written deliverables for international partners.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to ESA’s international collaboration framework.
