Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in a relevant field (Bio-Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Geosciences, Environmental sciences, Geography)
- Prior experience with fieldwork, especially in tropical forests
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R, C++, Matlab, or Python
- Excellent command of English and French
- Demonstrated excellence in scientific writing through high-quality publications
- Willingness to collaborate and supervise PhD students
Job Description:
- 70% academic research, 15% project management, and 15% supervision of PhD students & teaching support
- Synthesizing existing and project data into a biogeochemical disturbance model (PnET-BGC)
- Parameterizing the model for sub-Saharan Africa slash-and-burn to understand the long-term impact of disturbance regimes on forest recovery
- Benchmarking the model with satellite products to evaluate sustainable land-use change regimes
