Postdoctoral Researcher – Biology The ETH Laboratory of Toxicology, led by Professor Shana Sturla, is seeking a skilled Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in molecular and systems biology and toxicology. The position involves evaluating the impacts of chemicals on molecular and cellular responses in human cells. The researcher will contribute to the development of new methodologies for in vitro toxicology, incorporating molecular mechanistic insight and integrating various high-content data sources. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of six years, starting between 1 February 2024 and 1 May 2024.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent in toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, molecular or cellular biology, systems biology, or a related discipline.
  • Research experience in evaluating the biological impacts of chemicals and/or drugs.
  • Skills in cellular and molecular biology techniques, with extensive experience in human cell culture.
  • Proficiency in evaluating and visualizing diverse large data sources for characterizing cellular responses in vitro, such as high-content imaging, multi-omics, RNAseq, etc.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Independent mindset, good leadership qualities, high flexibility, and ability to work in an international and team-oriented environment.

Postdoctoral Researcher – Molecular and Systems Biology & Toxicology

The postdoctoral researcher will focus on molecular and systems biology and toxicology, assessing the effects of chemicals on molecular and cellular responses in human cells. The role involves advancing research in the development of new methodologies for in vitro toxicology, utilizing molecular mechanistic insight and integrating various high-content data sources. Collaboration opportunities include areas such as DNA damage and mutagenesis, microbial metabolism of chemicals, and precision medicine. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability.
