Postdoctoral Researcher – Biology: The Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Spang Team within the Department of Marine Microbiology and Biogeochemistry (MMB). The successful candidate will investigate the biology of DPANN archaea and their hosts, focusing on cultivation, microscopy, transcriptomics, microbial genomics, and symbiotic relationships.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for identifying hosts of uncultivated DPANN symbionts, enriching and characterizing DPANN representatives, and elucidating symbiont-host interactions. The focus will be on Candidatus Nanohaloarchaeum antarcticus and Halorubrum lacusprofundi host to expand our knowledge of DPANN archaea-host systems and gain insights into the functional role of DPANN symbionts.
