Research Area

Design and development of FDSOI-based semiconductor devices for energy-efficient neuromorphic computing and next-generation AI hardware. (Forschungszentrum Jülich)

Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants should have:

  • A completed Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field; a PhD qualification is advantageous.
  • Practical experience in semiconductor device fabrication and cleanroom processing.
  • Experience with electrical characterization and analysis of semiconductor devices.
  • Knowledge of TCAD simulation tools such as Synopsys Sentaurus or Silvaco is desirable.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills (minimum B2 level according to CEFR).
  • Additional experience in CMOS technologies, neuromorphic devices, scientific publications, and international conference presentations will be beneficial. (Forschungszentrum Jülich)

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Design, fabricate, and characterize advanced FDSOI devices for neuromorphic computing applications.
  • Develop and optimize semiconductor fabrication processes using modern cleanroom facilities.
  • Perform electrical measurements and evaluate device performance.
  • Conduct device simulations and optimization using TCAD tools.
  • Demonstrate proof-of-concept neuromorphic device technologies.
  • Support technology transfer activities with deep-tech startup partners.
  • Publish research findings in international journals and present results at conferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams and industrial partners.
