Postdoctoral Researcher – Genome: The Bart Lab has recently relocated to the University of California, Berkeley within the Plant and Microbial Biology Department, as part of the Plant Gene Expression Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute. Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants must have recently completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Molecular Biology
- Microbiology
- Plant Genetics

- Computational Biology
- Bacteriology
- Virology
Candidates are not expected to have expertise in all areas, and additional training will be provided to fill knowledge gaps as part of the postdoctoral experience.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on genome and epigenome editing strategies.
- Develop approaches to enhance resistance against bacterial and viral pathogens in crops.
- Work across diverse plant systems including tomato, cotton, cassava, and model organisms.
- Contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
- Participate in the dynamic research environment of the Plant Gene Expression Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute.
