Location: King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
- Strong background in robotics and software development
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and/or Python
- Experience with hardware and software development for robotics systems or embedded platforms
- Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) and simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI techniques applied to robotics is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to mentor and guide graduate and undergraduate students
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Design, develop, and implement software systems for aerial robots, focusing on autonomy, control, navigation, perception, and communication
- Develop algorithms for real-time data processing, sensor integration, and path planning in complex environments
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of software with robotic platforms
- Conduct simulations and field experiments to test and validate software performance in real-world scenarios
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to grant writing efforts
