Eligibility / Qualification
- PhD in Structural Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field
- Strong interest in infection biology and quantitative analysis of cellular ultrastructure
- Hands-on experience with cryo-EM/cryo-ET, FIB-SEM, or correlative imaging workflows is an advantage
- Familiarity with data processing and analysis pipelines
- Coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) are a plus
- Independent, highly motivated, team-oriented, with excellent communication skills
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Study bacterial cell–cell interactions in disease-relevant contexts
- Perform bacterial infection assays (BSL2 and potentially BSL3)
- Apply advanced cryo-EM techniques, including:
- Plunge-freezing and high-pressure freezing
- Cryo-FIB milling with serial lift-out
- Cryo-electron tomography and subtomogram averaging
- Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM)
- Analyze and interpret structural data in collaboration with clinical and diagnostic partners
- Contribute to method development, publications, and conference presentations
