Eligibility / Qualification

  • PhD in Structural Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field
  • Strong interest in infection biology and quantitative analysis of cellular ultrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with cryo-EM/cryo-ET, FIB-SEM, or correlative imaging workflows is an advantage
  • Familiarity with data processing and analysis pipelines
  • Coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) are a plus
  • Independent, highly motivated, team-oriented, with excellent communication skills

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Study bacterial cell–cell interactions in disease-relevant contexts
  • Perform bacterial infection assays (BSL2 and potentially BSL3)
  • Apply advanced cryo-EM techniques, including:
    • Plunge-freezing and high-pressure freezing
    • Cryo-FIB milling with serial lift-out
    • Cryo-electron tomography and subtomogram averaging
    • Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM)
  • Analyze and interpret structural data in collaboration with clinical and diagnostic partners
  • Contribute to method development, publications, and conference presentations
