Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD/doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in ecological data analyses and programming in R and/or Python.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in challenging conditions.
  • Interest in social-ecological concepts is preferred.
  • Skills in acoustic identification of bird species; additional skills in orthopterans and bats are beneficial.
  • Proficient in English; German is an asset.
  • Proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Job Description

  • Conduct independent scientific research in biotic interactions and biodiversity-ecosystem service relationships.
  • Quantify soundscape composition and assess acoustic diversity.
  • Carry out mapping of soundscape aesthetic values and identify key drivers.
  • Analyze bioacoustic data and assess human perception of visual and acoustic diversity via experimental approaches.
  • Collaborate within international networks and with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise PhD, MSc, and BSc students.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and at conferences.
