Eligibility / Qualification

Mandatory Requirements

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related neurotechnology-relevant field
  • Doctoral degree awarded no more than three years before the application deadline*
  • Hands-on experience in cleanroom microfabrication / micro-manufacturing
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Demonstrated potential in research and teaching

* Exceptions may be granted for documented circumstances such as parental leave, sick leave, or military service.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the EU-funded BioFINE project, focusing on the development of intra-neural implants capable of reading and writing nerve signals for advanced prosthetic control and artificial sensation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and optimizing nano- and microfabrication processes for implantable bioelectronic systems
  • Working with e-beam lithography and flexible polymer substrates (e.g., polyimide)
  • Integrating materials solutions to enhance biocompatibility, stability, and functionality
  • Collaborating with international partners in Germany, Spain, and Italy, and national partners in Sweden
  • Expanding developed methods toward applications beyond bionic limbs
  • Supervising Master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent
  • Contributing to undergraduate and/or Master’s level teaching
