Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in biology, biomechanics, functional morphology, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum one year of research experience in a university setting.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experimental skills in functional morphology and/or biomechanics.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills with a record of publications and conference presentations.
  • Collaborative skills for teamwork.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to develop effective mentorship skills.
  • Proficiency in computer programming/statistical software (e.g., R, Matlab, Python).

Job Description:

  1. Laboratory Research: Design and conduct biomechanical and morphological experiments, and care for animals following BSU IACUC-approved protocols.
  2. Data Analysis/Interpretation/Dissemination: Process and analyze experimental data, write manuscripts, and prepare conference presentations related to the project.
  3. Mentorship: Mentor/train undergraduate and graduate students working in Dr. Foster’s lab.
  4. Lab Environment: Contribute to the lab environment, participate in lab activities, and engage in outreach initiatives at local schools and public venues.
  5. Grant Opportunities: Identify and apply to relevant grant opportunities, seek out training workshops and educational seminars, develop pedagogical skills through guest lecture opportunities, and meet weekly with Drs. Foster and Selvitella.
