Postdoctoral Researcher in Cardiovascular Research: The Division of Cardiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna, Karolinska Institutet invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to join Associate Professor Zhichao Zhou’s research team. The role involves contributing to cutting-edge research on cardiovascular complications associated with type 2 diabetes, focusing on novel disease mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and biomarkers to prevent and predict cardiovascular dysfunction. The position is located at BioClinicum, Karolinska Institutet, which offers a highly collaborative and modern research environment.
Designation
Postdoctoral Researcher
About the Research Area
The project focuses on type 2 diabetes and its associated vascular complications, particularly investigating the role of red blood cell-derived non-coding RNAs in vascular dysfunction. Research methods include a combination of clinical and molecular-based investigations using a variety of models:
- Materials Used: Well-characterized patient samples, rodent diabetic models, gene-modified mouse models, and cell culture models.
- Techniques Employed:
- In vitro: Isolation of red blood cells, extracellular vesicles, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, Western blot, and qPCR.
- Ex vivo: Vessel reactivity assessment using Wire myograph.
- In vivo: Animal experiments using rat and mouse models.
Duration of Appointment: 2 years, with a possible extension of up to 2 additional years.
Job Location
Institution: Karolinska Institutet
Department: Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology
