Postdoctoral Researcher in Causal Learning: The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Locatello Research Group. This position focuses on developing causal representations and models to improve machine learning applications and understanding of cause-and-effect relationships.

- Strong publication record in top conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, CVPR)
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively in a team
- Excellent command of English (working language)
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Push the frontiers of causal learning and its applications across scientific disciplines.
- Develop new methods in foundational causality and machine learning.
- Lead research projects and mentor Ph.D. candidates.
- Collaborate with researchers from diverse fields to implement innovative approaches.
- Engage with ongoing projects targeting natural sciences (e.g., biology, ecology, climate) and explore new research areas.
The position is fully funded for two years with a competitive salary as part of the FWF Cluster of Excellence on Bilateral AI, with possibilities for extensions.
