  • Research Area: The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of novel organic compounds designed to facilitate fluorescence imaging of cellular membranes. Additionally, they will be responsible for developing and conducting assays to test the prepared compounds in live and fixed cells, utilizing confocal and super-resolution imaging techniques.
  • Location: Durham, NH
  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • Ph.D. in a Chemical Science with a focus on organic synthesis
  • Strong publication record
  • Experience in the design and synthesis of fluorescent molecules and compounds with bioorthogonal functional groups
  • Proficiency in the analysis of organic compounds using UV-Vis, NMR, and fluorescence imaging in cells
  • Knowledge of cell culture techniques
  • Familiarity with image processing software including ImageJ
  • Preferred: Previous independent researcher positions and mentorship experience; experience with computational programs such as Gaussian, Python, and machine learning analysis
  • Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for synthesizing, purifying, and characterizing novel organic compounds, as well as developing and conducting assays to test these compounds in live and fixed cells. They will also be expected to mentor graduate and undergraduate students with limited research experience in the laboratory. Active projects include the development of new classes of fluorescent molecules and responsive probes to visualize changes in membrane structure, as well as super-resolution imaging strategies for membrane characterization.
