Eligibility/Qualification

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) from a non-Belgian institution in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, or (Bio-)Engineering Sciences.
  • Not resided, studied, or worked in Belgium for more than 24 months in the past 3 years.
  • Comply with eligibility conditions for junior FWO postdoctoral fellowships and/or MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowships.
  • Expertise in protein expression, purification, and high-resolution structure determination is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills; fluent in academic English (speaking and writing).
  • Quality-oriented, team-oriented, creative, and cooperative.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in:

  • Production and purification of Granzyme B via an in-house recombinant expression system.
  • Structural biology, including elucidation of GRZB-probe co-complexes and determination of binding modes using macromolecular X-ray crystallography.
  • Kinetic characterization of probes with binding parameters determination through various assays.
  • Synthesis and optimization of GRZB probes for further applications.
  • Co-supervision of PhD students and grant applications for postdoctoral fellowships in the related field.
