Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Experience with molecular biology of bacteria, particularly Bacillus subtilis or other model species
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics, time-series analysis, and computer programming
  • Strong affinity for quantitative data analysis
  • Ability to think critically and work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative, international environment
  • Experience with genome-wide mutant screens is desirable but not required

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join an international team working on the ERC Synergy-funded project investigating the circadian clock of Bacillus subtilis. This is a unique opportunity to explore the molecular mechanisms of the circadian clock and apply chronobiological formalisms to describe it. The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Conduct research to crack the molecular mechanism of the B. subtilis clock
  • Perform a genome-wide mutant screen using the powerful toolkit of B. subtilis
  • Collaborate with partners from Leiden University (Netherlands) and The John Innes Centre (UK), involving international travel
  • Engage in cross-disciplinary work, learning chronobiological principles and experimentation
  • Contribute to discovering a novel clock mechanism within the context of microbiology and chronobiology
