Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Work on a project aimed at understanding how verbal interactions between army ant-following birds influence the evolution of phenotypic, physiological, and behavioral traits.
- Utilize a comparative genomic approach to identify signatures of positive selection and accelerated evolution within the bird genomes.
- Analyze associations between various traits across unrelated taxa, including sexual dimorphism, interspecific dominance, social behavior, spatial memory, and traits that mitigate antagonistic interactions with army ants.
- Engage with advanced long-read sequencing technologies to explore structural variants and their role in adaptive evolution.
- Start with a high-quality dataset of genomes from numerous antbirds and will have opportunities to develop new research ideas aligned with the lab’s goals.
