Postdoctoral Researcher in Compulsive Alcohol Consumption: The Laboratory of Molecular Basis of Behavior at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, led by Prof. Kasia Radwanska, is offering a postdoctoral position to study neuronal networks that contribute to Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The successful candidate will explore molecular and neuronal targets regulating compulsive alcohol seeking and consumption using in vivo brain imaging, transgenic mouse models, and advanced behavioral tasks.
Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuronal Basis of Compulsive Alcohol Consumption
Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher (R2)
Research Area:
Neuroscience – Neuronal basis of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD)
Location:
Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, Warsaw, Poland
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or a related field (awarded within the last 7 years).
- Documented experience in behavioral neuroscience, stereotaxic brain surgeries, and in vivo brain imaging (fiber photometry or mini-endoscopes).
- Strong publication record, with at least one first-author paper in a reputable journal.
- Experience in writing manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Proactive approach, collaborative skills, and strong organizational abilities.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will investigate the neuronal basis of compulsive alcohol consumption using animal models. The primary focus will be on characterizing the dorsal hippocampus network through in vivo brain imaging, local genetic manipulations, and behavioral tasks. This project, conducted in collaboration with Dr. Alessio Attardo’s group (Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Germany), aims to provide insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying cognitive impairments in AUD. Techniques include the IntelliCage system, whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology, and advanced microscopy methods.
