Postdoctoral Researcher in DNA Replication: CABIMER in Sevilla, Spain, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Néstor Garcia-Rodriguez lab. The lab’s focus is on understanding how cells handle DNA replication stress, a hallmark of cancer cells, and how this could be leveraged for novel cancer treatments. The research aims to investigate the regulation of DNA replication stress repair mechanisms, particularly gaps left behind replication forks and their potential as cancer vulnerabilities.
Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in DNA Replication Stress and Cancer
Location: CABIMER, Sevilla, Spain
Lab: Néstor Garcia-Rodriguez Lab
Research Area: Replication Stress and Cancer
Designation
Postdoctoral Researcher (Full-time, 18-month contract, with possibility of extension)
Research Area
DNA Replication Stress, Cancer Biology, DNA Damage Response, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology.
Location
CABIMER, Sevilla, Spain
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
- At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Strong experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, including cell culture, survival assays, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry.
- Experience with DNA fiber assays is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
Job Description
The postdoctoral researcher will engage in projects focused on understanding how cells respond to DNA replication stress, particularly in the context of cancer. The research will involve experimental approaches aimed at unraveling the regulation of DNA gaps and their repair mechanisms. The successful candidate will work closely with the lab team to explore new strategies for cancer therapy, contributing to cutting-edge cancer research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct molecular and cell biology experiments, including cell culture, survival assays, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry.
- Investigate the DNA replication stress response in cancer cells.
- Explore mechanisms of DNA gap formation and repair, particularly involving PrimPol-mediated re-priming.
- Collaborate with other lab members and contribute to the publication of research findings.
- Potential to apply for independent funding.
