Postdoctoral Researcher in Embryo Self-Correction: The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join Dr. Mauricio Rocha-Martins’ research group focused on the mechanisms of robust organ development through the study of human organoids and zebrafish.

Designation

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

Research Area

Developmental Biology, Genetics, Immunobiology, Infection Biology & Medicine, Structural and Cell Biology

Location

Münster, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD or nearing completion of a PhD in cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, or a closely related field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in cultivating mammalian cells or tissues, or experimental research involving zebrafish embryos.
  • Proficiency in microscopy and molecular biology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in advanced quantitative imaging and image analysis.
  • Expertise in genome engineering techniques.

Job Description

The Postdoc will lead a project investigating the self-correction capabilities of the developing nervous system, focusing on cell behavior and cell-cell interactions during tissue regrowth and repair. The role involves:

  • Culturing and manipulating stem cell-derived organoids to model human developmental disorders.
  • Utilizing genome engineering methods (e.g., CRISPR) to manipulate zebrafish embryo development.
  • Planning and executing experiments to probe tissue morphogenesis using quantitative imaging and large-scale molecular profiling (e.g., scRNA-seq).
  • Collaborating across disciplines and contributing to grant writing, peer review processes, and mentoring students.
