Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Chemistry: The ENvironmental and Isotope Geochemistry & Mass spectrometry Applications (EnIGMA) Lab and the Agricultural Soil Health (ASH) Lab at the School of the Environment, Trent University, are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in environmental geochemistry and soil sciences. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. in environmental geochemistry of nutrients or closely related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural and soil sciences.
  • Significant asset: Experience in microbial ecology, metagenomics, and/or greenhouse gas measurements.
  • Proven publishing record appropriate to career stage.
  • Independent, self-motivated, creative, and fluent in English.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong technical proficiency in advanced chemical and molecular analyses.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, plan, and execute research projects.
  • Conduct field and laboratory experiments on nutrient biogeochemistry, soil health, and microbial ecology.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Collaborate with industrial partners and stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, publish research in peer-reviewed journals, and present findings.

  • Instrumentation includes mass spectrometry, XRF, SEM-EDX, qPCR, sequencing, and SIP approaches.
