Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Microbiology: The University of Stuttgart invites applications for a 1.5-year ERC-funded position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Environmental Microbiology. This role focuses on identifying the impacts of surfactants on nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) cycling microbial key players in soils and freshwater sediments.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Microbiology or related field
  • Strong background in environmental microbiology and molecular biology
  • Field experience, with capabilities to lead field studies
  • Excellent management and communication skills
  • Very good computer and English language proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team

Job Description

  • Identify glyphosate-based surfactant impacts on microbes involved in N- and C-cycles.
  • Assist PhD students in large-scale microcosm experiments under varying conditions (oxic and anoxic).
  • Analyze data generated by PhD students through statistical methods.
  • Organize and lead field studies to assess glyphosate surfactants in situ.
  • Generate molecular biological and chemical data throughout the research.
  • Present findings in international journals and conferences.
