Postdoctoral Researcher in Evolutionary Genomics: The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Ma lab within the Department of Biology. This position focuses on the evolutionary genomics of sex chromosomes and sex-specific recombination among anuran lineages.

| Eligibility/Qualification | PhD in evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics, or a related field. Strong expertise in evolutionary/population genomics and molecular evolution. Proven experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis. Must have a valid EU driving license or equivalent. Experience in fieldwork preferred. Must have lived abroad for at least 12 months within the last 3 years. |
| Job Description | Work on the evolutionary dynamics of sex chromosomes and recombination in anuran species. Responsibilities include: Assembling and analyzing large, repeat-rich frog genomes.Performing comparative genomics across different sex-determining systems.Investigating drivers of sex chromosome turnover.Studying the evolution of sex-specific recombination rates.Field sampling and molecular lab work.Opportunities to integrate cytogenetics and evo-devo approaches as suitable. |
