The Hedrick Lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to explore the evolution of extreme morphologies using skeletal and soft tissue data. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and collections at Cornell University and the opportunity to gain teaching experience in comparative anatomy.

Job Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for using skeletal and soft tissue data to explore the evolution of extreme morphologies, with a particular focus on the appendicular skeleton in hummingbirds and fossorial mammals. Projects may involve examining evolutionary rate shifts, integration and modularity, and 3D geometric morphometrics. The candidate will have access to the Cornell Museum of the Vertebrates’ collections, workstations running Avizo, multiple on-campus CT scanners, a full dissection lab, 3D printers, and surface scanners. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to gain teaching experience in comparative anatomy and mentor undergraduates if desired.
