Eligibility / Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
- Education: PhD in Bioinformatics, Environmental Medicine, or a related relevant field (completed by the time the employment decision is made; ideally awarded within the last 3 years).
- Mass Spectrometry Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of documented experience in pre-processing and quality control of mass spectrometry data.
- Documented experience working with non-targeted mass spectrometry data.
- Experience with mass spectrometry data analysis and metabolite identification tools (e.g., OpenMS, SIRIUS).
- Programming Skills: Minimum 5 years of documented programming experience in R or Python.
- Statistical Analysis: Proven experience in statistical analysis of mass spectrometry data with a focus on metabolomics and exposome analysis (including regression models and survival analysis).
- Epidemiological Studies: Experience analyzing associations between exposures, registry data, and disease outcomes.
- Publication Record: At least one published article as first author in a journal with a 5-year Impact Factor greater than 15.
- Teaching & Grants: Experience in student teaching/supervision and writing scientific articles/grant proposals.
- Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, including scientific documentation.
- Personal Competencies: High precision, independence, and strong collaborative skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
Desirable / Meritorious Qualifications
- Clinical research experience involving patient and electronic health record (EHR) data or questionnaire data.
- Experience using software tools like TraceFinder for substance detection and quantification.
- Experience creating reproducible analysis pipelines and handling large-scale datasets.
- Swedish language proficiency (written and spoken).
- Advanced statistical techniques: mixture models (quantile G-computation, WQS), Cox proportional hazards survival models, and mediation analysis.
- Advanced data workflows and machine learning tools: GitHub, Docker/Singularity, Nextflow, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), LSTM, Transformers, CNNs, Conformal Prediction, and Explainable AI (XAI).
Job Description
- Perform pre-processing, quality control, and complex statistical/machine learning analyses on biomedical data (mass spectrometry, electronic health records, and epidemiological registries).
- Conduct advanced statistical analyses to study associations between biomarkers, environmental factors, and disease outcomes/trajectories.
- Visualize, interpret, and document research workflows and findings in accordance with good research practice.
- Provide biostatistical and data analysis support to other research projects within the team.
- Actively participate in group research meetings and collaborate with local and international partners.
