Postdoctoral Researcher in Genomic Epidemiology: IRTA-CReSA, the Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal in Bellaterra, Barcelona, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary team working on genomic epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) and other mycobacterial diseases. This role focuses on applying next-generation sequencing (NGS) data to understand TB transmission, host transitions, and antimicrobial resistance. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical research in infectious disease epidemiology and the One Health approach.

Eligibility/Qualifications:
- PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Genetics, Microbiology, or related life sciences.
- Strong background in epidemiological surveillance, zoonotic pathogens, and One Health.
- Proficiency in Genomics and Bioinformatics or Epidemiological Data Analysis and Statistical Inference.
- Self-directed research skills, from hypothesis generation to testing.
- Laboratory experience in microbiology and molecular biology is a plus.
- Willingness to work in a high biocontainment laboratory (BSL-3).
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Join an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Bernat Pérez de Val, focusing on TB control in livestock and its interface with wildlife and human populations.
- Conduct genomic epidemiology research using NGS data from mycobacterial isolates.
- Contribute to ongoing projects on phylogenomics, spatiotemporal epidemiology, and genome-level phylodynamics (analyzing transmission events, host transitions, molecular clocks, etc.).
- Identify genetic polymorphisms associated with antimicrobial resistance.
- Have the opportunity to develop an independent and impactful research program.
