Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should:
- Hold a PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Have obtained the PhD within the past 4 years.
- Possess doctoral-level expertise in instrumental analysis and analytical chemistry.
- Have hands-on experience with HPLC-MS and GC-MS, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Have experience in analytical method development for new analytes.
- Be able to train new users and communicate with instrument manufacturers.
- Have experience with sample preparation techniques such as solid-phase extraction (SPE) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE).
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, teamwork and mentorship skills.
- Experience in natural product chemistry and industry is desirable.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the Canadian cannabis regulatory environment is highly desirable.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams is preferred.

Job Description
The successful researcher will:
- Operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments including HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS and LC-MS/MS.
- Develop sample-preparation methods for chromatographic analysis, including SPE and LLE.
- Develop and validate analytical testing methods according to ICH guidelines.
- Prepare, review and manage technical data, documents and research proposals.
- Coordinate analytical activities with industrial partners.
- Co-lead analytical teams involving graduate students and technical staff.
- Mentor undergraduate students and potentially supervise graduate students.
- Support project management, grant writing, patent writing and technical seminars, depending on experience.
- Collaborate with formulation, synthetic, biological, natural-product and computational chemistry teams.
- Contribute to research publications and develop new research ideas.
The laboratory is equipped with LC-MS, GC-MS, multiple HPLCs with PDA detectors, GC-FID and access to LC-MS/MS, alongside broader synthetic, analytical, computational, biological and materials research facilities.
