Are you a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher eager to lead challenging research projects? The Petter S. Woll research group at Karolinska Institutet is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate the intracellular redistribution of subcellular and molecular structures during normal and leukemic stem cell differentiation. This role is integrated into the translational research environment at the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine, with the overarching goal of uncovering fundamental properties of normal and leukemic stem cells to inform new strategies for clinical monitoring and treatment of leukemia.

Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (PhD) or an equivalent foreign degree, completed by the time of the employment decision.
- Strong scientific background with relevant expertise in cell and/or molecular biology.
- At least one first-author publication in a recognized peer-reviewed journal.
- Experience with studies in hematopoietic stem cells, hematopoiesis, and/or immunology.
- Extensive experience with methods relevant to primary blood cells, such as advanced flow cytometry and cell culture.
- Proven ability to stay updated within the relevant research field.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in parallel.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Meritorious Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree awarded within the last three years (exceptions may apply for special reasons).
- Interest in programming, bioinformatics, and statistics for high-content/high-throughput data analysis.
- Practical experience with animal models for hematopoiesis.
- Experience with large-scale data analysis and bioinformatics, such as single-cell RNA sequencing analysis.
- Knowledge of R and basic statistics.
- Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 (or similar) genome editing of primary cells.
Job Description
The successful candidate will continue the research line of the Woll lab, which focuses on understanding how the accumulation of somatic mutations promotes the transition from normal hematopoietic stem cells to leukemic stem cells. This involves exploring new strategies for the identification and characterization of leukemic stem cells. The role requires building and maintaining experimental workflows by implementing or adapting existing tools. Methodologies will include:
- Advanced flow cytometry
- Functional in vitro assays for hematopoietic stem cells and immune cells
- DNA and RNA sequencing
- In vivo models
The Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to be independent, motivated, appreciate scientific discussions, engage in teamwork, and actively contribute to other projects within the laboratory.
