Job Description
The core objective of this postdoctoral position is to advance scientific understanding of how Large Language Models (LLMs) acquire, integrate, and reason over evolving, pluralistic knowledge through mechanistic interpretability methods.
Key responsibilities and research activities include:
- Developing novel conceptual frameworks, mechanistic interpretability methods, or empirical studies targeting AI reasoning.
- Investigating knowledge representation and reasoning mechanisms within modern LLMs.
- Collaborating within the CopeNLU group and the Pioneer Centre for AI on transparent, fair, and accountable NLP.
- Undertaking a small degree of teaching or academic supervision duties.
- Publishing high-impact research findings in top-tier NLP and AI venues.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Education: A PhD degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related quantitative field.
- Background: An educational background, prior research, or work experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), and/or Explainable AI (XAI).
- Research Track Record: Proven scientific output through publications in recognized conferences or journals.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Salary and Terms of Employment
- The appointment is structured according to the collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
- Starting monthly salary is approximately 39,900 DKK (roughly €5,300 EUR), with possibilities for negotiation based on experience and qualifications.
- The employer contributes an additional 18.07% toward a pension scheme.
- International applicants and qualifying returning Danish researchers may be eligible for a favorable, reduced researcher tax scheme.
