Designation

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area

Molecular mechanisms of melanoma metastasis and therapy response, with a focus on brain metastasis, immunotherapy resistance, and tumor microenvironment remodeling.

Location

Institute for Biomedical Research, Sols-Morreale (IBM, CSIC-UAM), located in the Campus of International Excellence UAM-CSIC, Spain.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Essential:
    • Ph.D. in Biosciences/Biomedicine.
    • Solid background in cancer biology and immunology.
    • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Expertise in cell culture (2D and 3D), flow cytometry, and animal work.
    • Experience in bioinformatics or computation (e.g., multi-omics or image analysis).
    • Data scientists or computational biologists with an interest in translational research.

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Study melanoma cell mechanisms that remodel the tumor microenvironment to colonize the brain and evade anti-tumor immune responses.
  • Utilize unique melanoma mouse models, brain metastatic cell lines, and single-cell derived clonal sublines.
  • Apply advanced techniques such as multi-omics (whole exome sequencing, RNAseq, scRNAseq), Spatial Transcriptomics, HiPlex RNA-FISH, and therapeutic studies in vivo.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary experts in neurosciences, imaging, and metabolomics, as well as international data scientists from the Cancer Data Science Lab (CDSL) at NIH, USA.
  • Potentially participate in teaching opportunities at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Offer

  • One-year full-time postdoctoral contract with a possibility of a short extension.
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply for their own funding for long-term opportunities.
