Postdoctoral Researcher in Microbiome Metabolomics, Netherlands

Postdoc in Netherlands

Postdoctoral Researcher in Microbiome Metabolomics: We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary research consortium focused on exploring the role of the urinary microbiome in urinary tract infections (UTIs). The successful candidate will drive the development and application of (computational) metabolomics methods to identify microbiome products in patient samples and complex microbial communities.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Microbiome Metabolomics

Location: Utrecht University and Wageningen University, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a PhD degree, preferably in analytical chemistry, computational biology, or a related field.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry, mass spectrometry data analysis, and/or (computational) metabolomics.
  • Willingness to learn technical and computational skills as required for the project.
  • Strong motivation, demonstrable organizational skills, and the ability to contribute to a cross-disciplinary scientific research team.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient in English for presenting and writing.
  • Willingness to present research at conferences, supervise (master) students, and engage in collaborative research efforts.

Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for the design and execution of the project. Key responsibilities include:

  • Development of targeted and untargeted liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods to measure predicted and unknown microbiome products in urine and reconstituted microbial communities.
  • Advanced data analysis to aid in understanding (metabolic) interactions in microbial communities.
  • Set up computational workflows to mine spectra and identify novel microbiome products that could serve as biomarkers for the detection of urinary tract infections.
  • Supervision of research projects for Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
  • Engagement in multi-disciplinary research consortium meetings and collaboration with partner universities and research institutions.

How to Apply:
