- Development of prevention and therapeutic strategies.
Location:
Ruhr University Bochum, Universitätsstraße 150, 44801 Bochum, Germany.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. (or an equivalent degree) in Biology or a related field with strong publications depending on the career phase.
- Solid understanding and experience in cell and molecular biology techniques.
- Virological knowledge with experience in zoonotic viruses, particularly Hepatitis E Virus (HEV).

Job Description:
The research project aims to analyze the mechanisms of viral entry and genome release of the Hepatitis E Virus (HEV). The successful candidate will develop innovative biochemical and microscopy-based assays to investigate these processes in detail. Additionally, the project includes examining the tissue tropism of the virus using various cell culture systems to identify potential pathogenic mechanisms linked to HEV-associated extrahepatic manifestations. The outcomes of this project will contribute to a better understanding of the viral life cycle and identify new targets for antiviral strategy development against HEV.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit their application, including a cover letter, CV, and relevant certificates, referencing the Application Number (ANR) 4067, via email to Eike Steinmann at eike.steinmann@rub.de. Please indicate if you wish to utilize an alternative application method.
