Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
Molecular Biology, Marine Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, Environmental Science
Location:
Royal NIOZ, Texel, Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of postdoctoral research experience.
- Proven expertise in experimental and computational workflows for analyzing microbial diversity and function (DNA/RNA-seq).
- Experience with long-read sequencing platforms and stable isotope probing.
- Willingness to participate in sea-going expeditions.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the NanoMare project focusing on the sources, fate, and microbial degradation of nanoplastics (<1 µm) in the ocean. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying key microbial players in nanoplastic degradation.
- Studying gene expression related to nanoplastic degradation and its potential toxic effects.
