A 2-year postdoctoral position is available starting September 2024 in the research group of Pr. Valérie Cormier-Daire at the Imagine Institute’s Inserm 1163 laboratory. The focus of the research is on characterizing and treating genetic diseases, with a particular emphasis on the molecular, genetic, and pathophysiological mechanisms of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). The Imagine Institute provides state-of-the-art facilities and platforms to support innovative research.

  • Expertise in molecular and cellular biology.
  • Experience with animal facilities and mouse experiments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational, methodological, and critical thinking skills.
  • Interest in technological development and translational research.
  • Capability to supervise and train students involved in the project.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will join a project aimed at further understanding the pathophysiology of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), particularly OI type V related to IFTM5 variants. The research involves:

  1. Conducting Omics approaches in human cells to study the pathophysiology of OI type V.
  2. Testing the effects of a neutralizing anti-TGF beta treatment in an OI mouse model that mimics OI type I, with the hypothesis that low-dose, long-term treatment may improve growth defects and bone fragility in children.

The researcher will focus on evaluating the effects of these treatments on murine models of osteogenesis imperfecta at early ages and will investigate the roles of collagen receptors in the short stature phenotype. The role requires collaboration with both internal and external partners, as well as supervising and training students.
